HELITE CUSTOM Leather Airbag Vest

Wear a leather cut?  If you like to sew on patches and customise your clothing, this product has it all.  Easy access to remove, and refit your airbag system allows you freedom to sew on insignia to the leather garment.  Combining the luxury and classic lines of leather with the latest Helite Turtle Technology air bag technology, Helite have delivered real style with maximum safety.  Careful use of expanding sections preserves the integrity of the vest when the air bag is deployed.  A hidden velcro panel at the neck inflates to effectively protect from whiplash injuries. The elastic mesh under the arms and side will permit the airbag to extend all over the upper body.  Now you can make that choice and combine it with maximum protection.

Can I wear the Custom leather vest when it is raining?

This leather vest is high-quality and can be worn when it is raining. However, it was not designed to be waterproof so the best solution is to wear a waterproof jacket under your Custom airbag. If you want to wear a waterproof jacket over your Custom, it must be large enough to guarantee an optimal inflation of the airbag and to keep an optimal protection.

How can I maintain the Custom leather vest?

Like every leather garment, maintenance is necessary to keep its flexibility and its colour. We recommend regular use of a high quality leather balm to maintain the airbag vest.  Caution, do not wash the vest with a washing machine or use solvent cleaning chemicals, or damage may occur.

Can I wear a backpack over a Helite airbag system?

Yes, while keeping in mind that the more resistance there is, the slower the airbag will deploy properly. We recommend to adjust your backpack straps fairly wide.

Is the airbag reusable?

Yes, as long as the airbag is in good condition (no holes, tears) you can reuse it. Easy to do, you can reset the system yourself in 2 minutes, without sending your vest back. It is only necessary to replace the CO2 cartridge with a new one. Please check  the  size  of  the  airbag  when  replacing  cartridges.   We are happy to help, just get in touch.

Can the airbag activate itself automatically? What if I forget to detach myself?

Helite airbags are mechanical to avoid unexpected airbag activation. Accidental deployments are extremely rare. The tractive force required to activate the airbag is between 20 and 30 kg depending on the size. If a rider forgets to unclip the lanyard, s/he will feel a strong tension on the vest or jacket before the airbag is triggered. Just as with a car seat belt, clipping and unclipping quickly becomes a habit.
